Sun,Sun,Sun....

It's been a long week for me this week, a colleague is on holiday and I have been covering her hours (only one day to go now, hurray!)
I'd love to be sitting here reading, sewing etc.
(not sure why this has a violet hue!)

But I can't complain too much when this is the view I get at work
And this is where I can sit during my teabreaks if I choose to

No pics of Meet and Make this week, I didn't think to get the camera out until it was too late...
Thanks for visiting
Have a lovely weekend

WOYWW 155

Somewhere underneath all this mess is my desk!
I've been working on a card for a wedding I am attending during the Bank Holiday weekend.
It is for a second marriage of a 50ish couple so the traditional style with lots of white didn't seem right. I stamped the main image upside down to make it look like a bouquet, but I'm not sure if it does or if it just looks upside down! The stamped doilies and words are in dark blue rather than black as it looks in the picture above. I don't have any stamps with a wedding theme, and as I'm unlikely to use one again in the near future, I'd prefer not to buy one specially.

What do you think? Is it wedding-y enough?!

I'm off to look at all the WOYWW desks via Julia's Stamping Ground blog.
And then, as it's another beautiful day here, I'm going to make the most of it before starting work at lunchtime!

Thanks for visiting.

Bleached...

I had a lovely day in Lingfield yesterday at the Craft Barn. I attended  a class tutored by Helen Chilton, we were using Oxford Impressions stamps and bleach techniques, with a bit of embossing thrown in, to make cards for men.
I did take my camera but forgot to take the memory card so I've no photos of the day, Helen took some which hopefully will be on her blog soon.
These are the cards I made, and an envelope to store them in. I attended the class thinking I'd probably never use the bleach technique again, but came away completely converted!
Thank you Helen for another great class and to the other ladies on the course who made it such a pleasure, and the lovely Craft Barn staff.
We went for lunch at Joyce's with Best Wishes which I can recommend, any place where you can have handmade chocolates for lunch can't be a bad place, friendly staff too...
I hope you've all had a great weekend, what did you get up to?

Thanks for visiting

Meet and Make

Here are some photos of this weeks Meet and Make.
Paola has just launched her website, take a look if you're interested, here is a picture of a commission she's just finished
And because she looked SO stylish, another picture of this lady...

I'm off to the Craft Barn tomorrow for a class with Helen Chilton.
Really looking forward to it...

Thanks for visiting and have a lovely weekend.

WOYWW 154

Another busy week so far with no time for crafting. Here is my desk, revealed to you as part of Julia's WOYWW.
Nothing very productive going on! There is the latest order from my favourite ebay seller, fluff pie. They have a great selection and the items are always sent quickly, which means a lot to me as I'm very impatient when it comes to purchases! I bought two MME stamps and a couple of ink pads.
Also on my desk are some Crafty Individuals stamps that were a free gift when subscribing to Craft Stamper, a magazine I'd intended to subscribe to anyway so a lovely bonus.
(Underneath is a scary letter about the future of my job!)
Another new purchase is the mini doilies, bought via etsy. I plan to embellish a cardigan with them.
This is the view of the sky here in 'Sunny Worthing', it actually is sunny so as I'm in work later I'm being drawn outside rather than to sit at my desk!
We had a dry although chilly weekend here. I spent it doing a bit of this.
Wallpapering in my sons room.
Shopping
planting
and
thrifting
(but that's another blog post!).

If you've made it this far, thanks for visiting.

Thrifty finds Thursday

I've not done a lot of thrifting recently, and when I have I've not had a lot of luck. What I have found I am very pleased with. This gorgeous small Tea set had one cup and saucer badly broken but there was enough left to make a lovely set (there is also a sugar bowl but it won't fit on the shelf!)

My next find was purchased for the frame, I do like the picture
although I think it will look a lot better with this print
inside the frame, so I have ordered it through etsy from Artylicious!

I had too many commitments this week to join in WOYWW. I am missing participating so I'm off to visit some desks...

Thanks for visiting

PS. I have been given an award from Beads, Buttons and Birds and will be blogging about it very soon, once I have decided on five people to pass it on to.

A taste of Summer...

I do my food shopping online and occassionally (OK, quite often!) make mistakes. The best one was when I ordered a HUGE bar of chocolate thinking it was a standard size, the most ridiculous was when I ordered one carrot! This weeks mistake is this...
(I thought it was ice cream)
I made the best of it and made this...
A strawberry and cream sponge. Yum.

It's been another wet and dreary day here in Worthing, it did brighten up for a bit mid afternoon. I've been listing some items for selling on ebay, a job I really hate - it takes soooo long!
For years I've collected Emma Bridgewater Pottery. The time feels right to downsize my collection and just keep the bits I use, received as gifts or just really love. Although I use some on a daily basis, most of it is stored.
Hope I don't regret it at a later date!

Thanks for visiting.
I hope those of you in the UK had a great BH weekend.

Grey day..

Here today in 'Sunny Worthing' it is grey and cold. I quite like days like this, I get those things done that I've been putting off! Do you remember weeks ago I started making a new throw for my sofa? Well, here it is - finished!
Some of you may remember that I had a dilema when I discovered that the backing fabric was slightly too small. Here is what I went with in the end and I'm happy I did it that way.
All of the fabric is French General by Moda. I love the reds in this range.

A few pics of Meet and Make this week, didn't remember to get my camera out until the lovely Kerry reminded me!
(This plate is from a dinner set I won on ebay. It
is the only piece that made it through the post intact.
To say I was gutted is an understatement!!)
The lovely Kerry's masterpiece using Staz On white ink

Our two newest members

A bit of crochet going on

Ehrm, what can I say about this pair?!!

More crochet love!

A couple of weeks ago I discovered Photobucket, I was so excited and had a play. When I went back on Friday it had all changed and the mosaic tool that I had planned to use was gone. Instead was a collage tool, after more than an hour I gave up! I couldn't get it to work.
Does anyone know of a free image hosting site that offers simple mosaics for your photos?

Thanks for visiting.
I hope you are all having a lovely (if wet) BH weekend.

What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday - WOYWW 152

As predicted, my desk is nowhere near as tidy as last week when Blogger wouldn't let me upload the picture of it! I'm still having problems uploading photos, but at least I managed to get one of my desk this week...
Yes, that patchwork picture is still waiting to be put on the wall!
This week my desk is full of rubber stamps, embellishments, paper, ink etc. ready to take to an evening with friends at the Meet and Make group I attend. Because I'm not that creative in the evenings (too tired) I am planning to continue cataloguing my stamps. My aim is to be able to choose an image and then be able to find the stamp easily! We'll see...

Apologies for my (very) late visits to your desks last week, as always I loved having a snoop and thanks to everyone who visited mine. It's such fun seeing all your desks, and I recommend it as a lovely way to spend an hour (or three!!). Pop over to Julia's to see what it's all about.
